Stephen has over a decade of experience in the field of intellectual property, focusing his practice on all phases of patent prosecution, client counseling, and managing complex patent portfolios. Stephen’s practice spans a wide range of industries, including carbon capture and climate technologies, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biotechnology, chemicals, synthetic biology and biomanufacturing, food science, agriculture, and medical devices.

Prior Experience
Prior to joining RAPHAEL BELLUM PLLC, Stephen served as Associate General Counsel for IP at LanzaTech, Inc., where he led the development and protection of the pioneering global IP portfolio related to engineering biology, nutritional protein, and gas fermentation technologies. Prior to his time in-house, Stephen was a patent examiner at the United State Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for over eight years, examining patent applications in a variety of industries, including biotechnology, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Stephen also has litigation experience having served as a trial attorney detailee at the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ), Civil Division, IP Section.
