New Hires: Raphael Bellum Welcomes Two New Team Members

Stephen Chong joins Raphael Bellum PLLC from LanzaTech, Inc., where he most recently served as Associate General Counsel – IP. At LanzaTech, Stephen led the development and protection of the pioneering global IP portfolio related to engineering biology, nutritional protein, and gas fermentation technologies. Prior to his time in-house, Stephen worked as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO and as a trial attorney detailee at the DOJ’s Civil Division, IP Section. Stephen is a licensed attorney in Maryland and a registered patent attorney with the USPTO. Stephen obtained his B.A. in biochemistry and a minor in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law with a certificate in Intellectual Property.
Ed Timberlake joins Raphael Bellum PLLC from the UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he served as the Interim Director of its IP and Transaction Clinic, organized an IP lecture series, and taught IP courses. Prior to his academic career, Ed led the trademark and copyright firm, Timberlake, Law PLLC. Before entering private practice, he was a trademark examiner at the USPTO and, prior to then, a copyright examiner at the U.S. Copyright Office. Ed obtained his B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a J.D. from the Wake Forest University School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in North Carolina, where he is also a Board-Certified Specialist in Trademark Law.
