David Lipson is a Senior Counsel of the firm and a member of the Engineering and Design and Trademark Teams.

David specializes in helping small and growing companies understand, develop, and leverage their intellectual property assets to increase their value and help those companies reach their business goals. David represents and counsels clients in a broad range of industries, including engineering and product design, computer software, consumer products, medical devices, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. He works closely with our clients’ senior executives and decision makers, as well as with inventors and content creators, to protect, commercialize, and maximize the value of their intellectual property. David has extensive licensing, counseling, and litigation experience in the areas of patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, and takes a pragmatic approach to helping each client manage its unique intellectual property portfolio consistently and comprehensively.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining the firm, David practiced in the Washington, D.C. offices of two prominent national law firms. He also has first-hand experience with start-ups and small businesses, having successfully founded and run his own company for several years.

Following law school, David served as a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims.
